Research Project: Center for Advanced Bioenergy and Bioproducts Innovation (CABBI)

Sang Yeol Kim is a research staff scientist at the University of Illinois. Sang Yeol's research looks at the characterization of posttranslational modification of Rubisco activase in C4 plants. His current project will look at the improvement of C4 grass photosynthesis by modifying posttranslational modification of Rubisco activase in C4 grass. He earned his doctorate in plant biology from Seoul National University and completed a postdoctoral research position at University of California, Berkeley. His work in published in Plant Physiology, PloS Genetics, and The Plant Cell.

The Ort Lab is supported by many public and private partnerships, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research, the UK Government's Department for International Development, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy.
