Elsa de Becker is a graduate student in the lab of Stephen Long at the University of Illinois. She is working on helping plants adapt to fluctuating light levels to maintain the highest photosynthetic efficiency possible. She earned her bachelor’s degree in plant science from Cornell University before joining the RIPE project.

The LongLab is supported by many public and private partnerships, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research, the UK Government's Department for International Development, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy.
